Robert E. Lee Johnson

Robert E. Lee Johnson, 83, of Nelsonville, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017 at Grant Medical Center, Columbus.  He was born October 25, 1933 in Ashville, the son of the late Clarence and Vaundell Sampsill Johnson. He was married to Marchetta Young Johnson, who survives, for 54 years.

Bob was a brick mason for Southern Masonry in Columbus for many years. He was a member of the Nelsonville VFW, Glouster Masonic Lodge #607 F&AM and the Redmen Lodge, Athens.

In addition to his wife, Marchetta, Bob is survived by his son, Bobby Johnson of Athens; daughters, Lisa Johnson of St. Albans, West Virginia, Debbie Stewart of Logan and Jill (Ed) Ramsey of Churchill, Virginia; twelve grandchildren including a very special granddaughter, Hanna Lee Johnson and many great grandchildren; brothers, Clyde (Nancy) Johnson of Logan, and Denver Johnson of Nelsonville; sisters, Patty Howson of New Marshfield and Delores Storts of New Lexington and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Johnson; sisters, Marilyn Johnson and Darlene Martin; brothers, Junior, Don, Dutch, Jack and Carl Johnson.

A memorial gathering will be held Friday, May 26, 2017 from 5-7 PM at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette Street, Nelsonville where a Masonic Service will be held at 6:45 PM.  Inurnment will be at Asbury Cemetery, Starr Twp., Hocking County at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Bob Johnson may be made to the American Cancer Society, Central Region Office – HCKG, 5555 Frantz Rd., Dublin, Ohio 43017
