Roger Lee Smith

Roger Lee Smith, 65, of Hamden, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus.  He was born December 13, 1954 in Vinton County, son of Grover Allen and Mary Ralphlene Peacock Smith.

He retired from Northwest Hardwoods and enjoyed playing the drums and listening to rock music.

Roger is survived by his companion, Michelle Booth of Hamden; son, Nicholas (Kayla) Booth of McArthur; daughters, Amy Dawn Browning of Hamden and Summer (Wayne Bensonhaver) Waugh of Tarlton; seven grandchildren; brothers, Clifford (Sharon) Dowler of Jackson, Grover A. (Marie) Smith Jr. of Lavonia, Michigan, Robert (Valerie) Smith of Lebanon and Paul Smith of Jackson and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, James “Jim” Smith and sisters, Mary Clevenger and Betty Rodrigues.

Roger will be cremated and burial in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with take place at a later date.

Arrangements are by Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, Ohio 45651.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of Roger Smith to the The James Cancer Hospital Solove Research Institute, 460 W. 10 ^th Ave., Columbus, Ohio 43210.
