Roy C. Pierce, 86, of McArthur, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was born January 11, 1932 in McArthur, son of the late Wallace K. and Lora E. Petty Pierce. Roy was married on April 17, 1954 to Alta Thacker Pierce, who survives.
Roy retired from the State of Ohio Department of Corrections and formerly worked for Austin Powder Company in McArthur. He was a Korean Conflict Army Veteran, a member of the Delta Lodge #207 F&AM in McArthur and also was a lifetime member of the McArthur VFW Post #5299.
Roy is survived by his sons, Garry (Marjorie) Pierce of McArthur, Robert (Debbie) Pierce of Circleville, Clyde (Samantha Wright) Pierce of McArthur and John K. Pierce of Wellston; daughters, Linda Grow of McArthur and Cheryl (Joe) Hubble of Gallipolis; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren and brothers, Vernon Dale (Donna) Pierce of Canal Winchester and Ansel Barrett (Pansy) Pierce of Florence, Mississippi.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Wallace, Hiram, Gordon, Robert and Holbert Pierce and a sister, Mona French.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, February 6, 2018 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Dr. Walt Goble officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur, with military graveside services being conducted by the McArthur VFW Post #5299. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, from 5-8 p.m. where a masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.
