Ruby Leora Johnson, 90, of Logan, passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024, at her residence. She was born February 25, 1933, in Hocking County, daughter of the late Clarence E. and Beatrice M. Nixon. Leora was the widow of the late Woodruff D. Johnson.
She formerly worked for Godman Shoe Company in Logan, was a Common Wealth Telephone Operator in Lancaster, worked for Ray-O-Vac and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber after 31 years. Leora enjoyed her lunch gatherings with her Logan High School class of 1951 classmates and Goodyear co-workers. Her hobbies were collecting and reading every Danielle Steele book, collecting recipes and recipe books, she enjoyed word puzzles, watching tv, crocheting and plastic canvases. Leora was a member of the House of Prayer and Praise in Jacksonville, was a life member of the Hocking County Historical Society and was a member of the Amvets Auxiliary Post #1776.
She is survived by her son, James L. (Tina) Bailey Sr.; daughter, Darlene Reed of Logan; stepsons, Kevin (Barb) Johnson and Christopher Johnson; stepdaughter, Brenda (Gary) Malone; grandchildren, James L. (Marjorie) Bailey Jr., Jennifer (David) Bartlett, Kimberly (Ray Taylor) Moschell, Lisa (Doug) Richards, Elizabeth (Greg) Skinner and Wendy (Matt) Reed; several step grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Leora was preceded in death by her stepson, Kenny Johnson; sister, Freda Mae Nixon; grandchildren, Lafe Barnett, Ryan and Derek Johnson; three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Mike Canter officiating. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Logan. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
