Ruth H. Collins

Ruth H. Collins, 98, of Columbus, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Embassy of Winchester Place in Canal Winchester.  She was born March 22, 1923, in Charleston, West Virginia, daughter of the late Homer and Nanny Pitzenberger Harkins.  Ruth was the widow of the late Thomas Maynard Collins.

She worked at the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center and was a member of the Union Ridge Church of The Nazarene.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Helen J. (Roy) Neff of Columbus and Barbara (Roger) Schultz of Puerto Rico; grandchildren, Jon M. Neff, Rita Johnston, Jennifer Schultz and Beth Miller; great grandchildren, Maddox, Madisyn, Nola, Layla and Eli and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry David Collins and brothers, Bill and Jim Harkins.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2021, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Bob Jividen officiating.  Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur.  Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
