Sally L. Shinn

Sally L. Shinn, 81, of Nelsonville, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Arbors at Pomeroy. She was born October 22, 1937 in Nelsonville, the daughter of the late Orvil and Ethel Rawlings Midkiff.  She was married to Robert E. Shinn, who survives, for 61 years.

She was a graduate of Nelsonville High School and retired from Nelsonville-York City Schools and the SEPTA Correctional Facility. She was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church in Nelsonville.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Mary Ella (Bill) Bauer of Marietta; granddaughter, Madison (Andrew) Ryser of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Alma Jo Midkiff and Nancy Midkiff; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by a grandson, Grant Bauer; brothers, Warner Midkiff, Orvil “Peach” Midkiff Jr. and Paul Midkiff; sisters, Maxine Dixon, Garnet Withem, Jean Whitlatch and Jane Canter.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the former First Christian Church, 200 Fort St., Nelsonville with Rev. Ronald Chunn officiating.  Inurnment at Greenlawn Cemetery will follow the service.  Arrangements are by Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St, Nelsonville.
