Sharon Kay Mcguire Ryan

Sharon Kay McGuire Ryan, 77, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Buckeye Care in Lancaster. She was born May 18, 1946, in Doanville, the daughter of the late Franklin McGuire and Venus M. Reynolds Thompson.

Sharon worked for many years and retired from the Athens County Court of Domestic Relations. She was a 1964 graduate of Nelsonville High School and a longtime member of the Nelsonville High School Alumni Association. She also served on the Hock Hocking Adena Bikeway Committee.

Sharon is survived by her sister, Carolyn “Suzie” (Tex) Willison of Lancaster; brother, Mark (Diane) McGuire of Nelsonville; and nieces and nephews, Ryan (Katie) McGuire of Nelsonville, Kristina McGuire of Nelsonville, Jerry (Nicki) Kline of Buchtel, and Kreg Matthew Kline of Nelsonville.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents; nieces, Katrina Taggart and Misty Lee; and nephew, Sherman Perkins.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville with Pastor David Shoemaker officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville. Family and friends may visit from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
