Shirley Jean Crane

Shirley Jean Crane, 87, of Buchtel, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 29, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of the late Fred and Grace Mohney Lock. She was the widow of the late Walter Everett Crane who passed away in 2005. They were married for 56 years.

She was a 1948 graduate of Buchtel York High School where she was the class valedictorian. A member of the former Nelsonville Emblem Club, #97, where she was Past Supreme Marshall in 1980-81, and Past President. She was a devout member of St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church where she was a past CWC member.

Shirley is survived by loving daughters, Betsy (Jerome) Campbell of Cincinnati, Jean Marie Dishong of Buchtel and Angela (Tim) Peacock of Buchtel; grandchildren, Everett (Marta) Campbell, Matthew (Gabriel) Campbell, Margaret (Mark) Piper, Hugh (Emily) Campbell, Sarah Irwin, Evan (Ashley) Dishong, Nathan (Ashley) Dishong, Julia Peacock and Ethan Peacock; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley Dishong of Coshocton and Rose Crane of Columbus; nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Irwin and infant brother, Freddy Lock.

A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church, 17645 Bank St., Buchtel, OH 45716 with Father Christopher Foxhoven officiating. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Nelsonville. Friends may visit 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2017 at Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville where a prayer vigil will be at 7:30 p.m.

Donations may be made in memory of Shirley Crane to the CWC at St. Mary of the Hills Catholic Church in Buchtel.
