Steven Lee Mender, 75, of Amesville, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at his home. He was born October 7, 1948, in Logan, the son of the late Roland W. and Pamela Ann (White) Mender. Steve was married to Jennifer (Seiber) Mender who survives.
Steve served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He retired after 27 years as an Ohio State Highway Patrolman. He also worked for several years for the United States Postal Service. Steve also enjoyed volunteering his time teaching swimming lessons at Beacon School.
Steve is survived by his wife; children, Heidi (Stephen) Keaton of San Diego, California, Regina Mender of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jackie (Shane) Orcutt of Athens, Jason (Tara Smathers) Russell of Buckeye Lake, and Dianna (Lane) Gilbraith; grandchildren, Taylor and Devin Orcutt of Athens, Oakley and Ellie Russell of Buckeye Lake, Mark (MJ) Loudner of Kentucky, Conner (Emily) Loudner of Logan, Emylee (Damon) Loudner of The Plains, Gracey (Ethan) Jarvis of Athens, Jamie Jarvis of Albany, and Gabby Gilbraith of Athens; 5 great grandchildren; brothers, Scott (Chris) Mender of Haydenville, Shane (Barb) Mender of Frazeysburg, Shelley Mender of Michigan, Sayre (Laura) Mender of Georgia, Sam Mender of Pataskala, Sven (Kathy) Mender of Lancaster, and Stace Mender of Millfield; and many extended family members.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, Hubert and Wilmena Mender.
A celebration of life will be planned for a future date. Arrangements are by the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville.
