Sylvia E. Doolittle

Sylvia Eleanor Doolittle, 95, of Nelsonville, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at The Laurels of Athens. She was born on September 21, 1928, in Athens County, the daughter of the late Scott and Elizabeth (Murphy) Stover. She was the widow of the late Uhlan “Ogg” Doolittle.

Sylvia lived her life giving and serving others. She would invite guests into her home with a smile and an offer of coffee and food. She found great joy in her family and was so blessed with each new addition. She enjoyed having a garden and canning. She gave hugs to everyone. She loved the Lord with all her heart and shared Jesus with anyone she could. She was a member and “Mother” of the Pentecostal Faith Church in Nelsonville.

Sylvia is survived by her daughters, Lynn (Joe) Howard of Nelsonville and Leta (Ron) Riley of Stewart; grandchildren, Ronnie (Tara) Riley, Amy (Scott) Sisek, Brian (Julie) Howard, and Marc (Kristy) Riley; great grandchildren, Joey (Carlye) Howard, Brandon Howard, Kaitlynn (Trey) Eschbaugh, Gage (Morgan) Sisek, Taylor (Gregory) Riley, Brody Riley, and Hunter Riley; great great grandchildren, Bo Howard, Kolten Riley, Bailey Riley, and Lynnae Sisek; and nieces and nephews.

Sylvia was preceded in death by parents; husband; great granddaughter, Morgan Riley; brothers, Odell, Dale, Roscoe, Russell, and Sonny Stover; and sisters, Bonnie Stover, Edith Stover, Hazel Potter, Audrey Murphy, Genevieve Jones, and Pearl Mace.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville. Interment will be in Asbury Cemetery, Nelsonville. Family and friends may visit from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
