Tamara "Tammy" Jayne Thomas

Tamara Jayne “Tammy” Thomas, 65, of Sugar Grove, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2024, at Luxe Care Center, in Lancaster. She was born September 1, 1958, in Columbus, the daughter of Leo Glenn and Ilah Irene (Jewell) Burritt.

Tammy was a graduate of Vinton County High School in 1976 and former President of the Berne Township Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a nanny for 40 years and dearly loved children. She was a very special person who was a mother to all and loved and cared for everyone. She also loved to go for rides in the country, to see the deer, horses, and wildlife.

Tammy is the best thing that ever happened to her loving husband of 44 years, Michael Thomas of Sugar Grove, who survives. She is also survived by her mother, Ilah Burritt of McArthur; sister, Brenda (David) Allen of McArthur; nieces and nephews, Josh (Codea) Allen of Londonderry, Stacey (James) Hudnall of Albany, Tim Thomas of Chauncey, Heather (James) Goldsmith of Columbus, Heidi Thomas of Millfield, and Ronald (Autumn) Thomas of Logan; great-nephew, Jenson Allen; and aunt, Virgie Bumgardner.

Tammy was preceded in death by her father; nephew, Bryan Thomas; niece, Holley Thomas; and brother-in-law, Paul Smathers.

A funeral service will be held at 12 pm Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Souers-Cardaras Funeral Home, 46 Fayette St., Nelsonville, with Pastor Gary Alton officiating. Interment will be in Hilltop Cemetery, Millfield. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm at the funeral home and on Thursday, from 11 am until the time of service.
