Tootsie Mullins Clevinger passed away November 12, 2021, after an extended illness. Tootsie was born November 4, 1933, in Elkhorn City, Kentucky, daughter of the late Marcus and Cillar Anderson Mullins. She was 1 of 13 children.
Tootsie moved to Vinton County in 1977, where she worked as a nursing assistant at Twin Maples Nursing Home for 40 years, until she retired in 2018. Tootsie thoroughly enjoyed working with and helping the residents at Twin Maples. She was always happy to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Tootsie was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. She was a truly happy person and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was Granny to all who knew her. Tootsie is survived by her loving sons Bobby (Lisa) Clevinger and Dale Clevinger, Daughter, Cooki Clevinger Amerine (Mike), grandchildren: Marcus Clevinger, Corey Clevinger, Danielle Amerine Stewart and Shaun Amerine (Ashton) and 6 great-grandchildren, Maddy, Kaelyn, Kinzie, Kyson, Joslyn, Kaizlin, and Luxton. Tootsie is also survived by 2 sisters Virginia Mullins Ratcliff and Tomel Mullins Myers.
Tootsie was known for her cooking skills. She was well known for the best cooked cabbage in the county. There is no doubt that Tootsie is passing her time praising the Lord, rocking a baby and helping an elderly person along the way, while she enjoys her new home in Heaven.
Tootsie loved and served the Lord everyday of her adult life and she is waiting at Heaven’ s Gate for her family to join her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Rest in peace, “Granny”, Until we are all together again.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 16, 2021, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.
