Valerie Rose Burns

Valerie Rose Burns, 56, of McArthur, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at her residence.  She was born March 22, 1965, in Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late Ned and Patricia (Shine) Walborn.  Valerie was married for 35 years to Steven L. Burns, who survives.

She was a substitute teacher for Vinton County Schools and was an amateur radio operator under the call sign of KC8GCM.  Valerie thoroughly enjoyed setting up gatherings with her beloved family and friends.  One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandma to her grandson.  Valerie spent time doing crafts and was the former President of the Vinton County Band Boosters.

She is survived by her husband, Steven; daughter, Beth (Adam) Schwarzkopf of Sylvania, Ohio; grandson, Logan Schwarzkopf; brothers, Evan (Cindy) Walborn and Matthew (Elizabeth) Walborn, both of Toledo; sister-in-law, Janice (Joe) DiModica of Toledo and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Marty Walborn.

Funeral services will be held 5 p.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur.  Burial will be in Hamden Cemetery in Hamden, Ohio, at a later date.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, at 3 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
