Vicki M. Harkins

Vicki M. Harkins, 79, of McArthur, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.  She was born August 1, 1942, in Zaleski, Ohio, daughter of the late James Richard and Clara Morris O’Leary.  Vicki was married to the late Larry Virgil Harkins.

She retired from the Logan Hocking School District after 30 years of teaching and was very active in the special Olympics in Hocking County.  Vicki was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church in Zaleski where she was also the director of The Parish School of Religion.  She was also volunteered in classrooms for Vinton County Schools.

Vicki is survived by her sons, John Michael (Michele) Harkins of Galloway and Vince (Dee) Harkins of Columbus; grandchildren, Haley N. Harkins, Sarah Sanchez, Tyler Harkins and Haley L. Harkins; brothers, Dickie O’Leary of Zaleski and Kevin (Marsha) O’Leary of Chillicothe; sisters, Dixie (Mike) Green and Nikki (Dale) Harvey, both of Zaleski; brother-in-law, David Harkins of Logan and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held 10 a.m., Tuesday, February 1, 2022, in the St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 119 N. Second St., Zaleski, with Father Thomas Herge and Father David Young officiating.  Interment will be in St. Sylvester Catholic Cemetery in Zaleski.  Friends may call at the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, on Monday, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
