Wendy Boyer, 76, of McArthur, passed away Monday, April 16, 2018 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. She was born August 3, 1941 in Vinton County, daughter of the late Ellsworth and Myrtle Queen Cline. Wendy was the widow of the late Paul Boyer.
She retired from State Farm Insurance Company, was a member of the First Christian Church in McArthur, a life member of Electa Chapter #228 OES in Candler, North Carolina and the SERENO Chapter #128 OES in McArthur. Wendy was a founding member of the first Vinton County Wild Turkey Festival, loved quilting and was also a member of the Athens Quilt Guild. She was a diehard fan of the Duke Blue Devils.
Wendy is survived by her son, Barry (Kathy) Boyer of McArthur; daughter-in-law, Debbie Boyer of McArthur; grandchildren, Ryan (Jessica) Boyer of Candler, North Carolina and Ashley Boyer of Candler of North Carolina; great granddaughter, Cassidy; brother, Alfred Cline of Albany; sister, Eleanor Boles of Marion, special niece who was raised in the home, Carol (Ronnie) Salmons of Berlin along with several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Terry Boyer and eleven brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, April 20, 2018 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. Jim Taylor officiating. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 6-8 p.m. where an Eastern Star service will be held at 7 p.m.
