Wilbur J. Bender, 86, of Logan, passed away Friday February 14, 2020 at The Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born January 12, 1934 in Goshen, Indiana, son of the late John H. and Barbara Stutzman Bender. He was married to Mary Jane Sommers Bender, for 64 years, who survives.
He worked as a General Contractor and was a Pastor of Cornerstone Mennonite Church in Hartville, Ohio and St. Johns Mennonite Chapel in Logan. He was a member of Turkey Run Mennonite Church in Logan, where his son, Michael is the pastor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Michael (Ruth) Bender of Logan and Bill (Barbara) Bender of Logan; daughter, Cindy (Mike) Gray of Franklin, West Virginia; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; brother, John (Liz) Bender of Los Angeles, California; sisters, Irene Diller of Hartville, Melva (John) Yoder of Phoenix, Arizona and Wilma Miller of Goshen, Indiana; nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Yoder, Joanna Bender and three infant sisters.
A Memorial Service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 14, 2020 at Turkey Run Mennonite Church, 5066 Township Rd. 372, Logan. Pastors Michael Bender and Robert Fisher officiating. Private burial was at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Turkey Run Mennonite Church, General Fund, 5066 Township Rd. 372, Logan, Ohio 43138.
