William "Bill" Lowell Mcnickle

June 19, 1934 — June 28, 2021

William “Bill” Lowell McNickle, 87, of McArthur, passed away Monday, June 28, 2021, at Holzer Medical Center in Gallipolis.  He was born June 19, 1934, in Jackson, Michigan, son of the late Lowell and Laura Boone McNickle.  Bill was married for 63 years to Juanita A. Schuster McNickle, who survives.

He was a retired Vinton County High School teacher and was a United States Marine Corps Veteran during the Korean Conflict era.  Bill was a Racine High School graduate who enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling the world.  Along with his wife, he co-owned Juanita’s Greenhouse in McArthur and was a member of the Eastern Star in Wilkesville, Eastern Star of Sereno Chapter #128 in McArthur, Delta Lodge #207 F&AM in McArthur and the Aladdin Temple Shrine.  Bill was the past President of Franklin Valley Golf Course in Jackson and was the past President of the Vinton County Teachers Association.

He is survived by his sons, Rocky (Brenda) McNickle of Wilkesville, Larry (Lorrie) McNickle of Cincinnati and Tony (Paula) McNickle of Jacksonville, Ohio; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Robert (Rosanne) McNickle of Spokane, Washington; sister, Madgle Smith of Pomeroy; brothers-in-law, Robert Schuster of Florida and Fred Schuster of Jacksonville, North Carolina and special friend, Herb Gilliland of McArthur.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol McNickle and Barbara Pierce.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, where a masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in memory of William “Bill” McNickle to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607.
