William P. Owings, 94, of Logan, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2017 at The Pickering House in Lancaster. He was born June 8, 1922 in New Straitsville, Ohio, son of the late George D. and Margaret K. Hallett Owings. Bill was married for 72 years to Nellie L. Mohler Owings, who survives.
He retired from General Electric in Logan, was a WWII Coast Guard Veteran and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Bill is survived by his sons, Paul (Paula) Owings and Richard (Carol) Owings, both of Logan; daughter, Sandra (Paul) Hoag of Reynoldsburg; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren and a sister, Nellie Mae Latham of Sebring, Florida.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandchildren, Curtis and Autumn Owings; brothers, Arlie, Jack and George Owings and sisters, Carolyn Scott, Jean Akin, Joy Chesser and Joann Smith.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2017 in the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Pastor Steve Hubbard officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Baptist Cemetery, Logan. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m.
