William “Bill” Wolfe, born May 19, 1927, left this world of pain for a more pain free state on August 28, 2018, at his home in Cutler, Ohio. He was born in Murray City, Ohio, to Leather Currens Wolfe and Burke Wolfe. His mother died in 1932 and his father died in 1933, leaving Bill and his two younger sisters orphaned. They were raised by their maternal grandparents, Bill and Daisy Currens.
He graduated from Murray City High School in 1945. Bill entered the service as a member of the Coast Guard. He then attended Ohio University and graduated with an Education degree. Bill taught history and coached basketball. He then earned his Master’s degree, also from Ohio University. Bill taught in several schools before accepting a position with the Ohio Department of Education.
Bill is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dorothy Wolfe; daughter, Gayle (Larry) Hough of Westerville; daughter, Jackie (Brady) Seimer of Westerville; stepdaughter, Dr. Valerie (Doug) Hart of Morristown, Tennessee; sister, Betty (Calvin) Devol of Buchtel; two very special care-givers, Margaret Norris and Millie Singer.
Besides his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Marian Buchanan Mollman; by the mother of his daughters; and by his best friend from childhood, Jack Hillyer.
Per Bill’s request, he has been cremated and there will be no services. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Humane Society. Many dogs and cats found sanctuary at his home. They were loved, fed and mourned upon their passing. We’re sure they were all waiting as he crossed the Rainbow Bridge, to greet him, as well as his beloved family members who have passed.
God bless you brother and I’ll miss you.
