Winifred Kay Appel, 72, of Cincinnati, formerly of New Plymouth and Lucasville, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Hospice of Cincinnati at Mercy Health Plaza in Cincinnati. She was born June 26, 1944 in New Plymouth, daughter of the late Benjamin H. and Marcia Harkless Moore.
Winifred retired after twenty plus years as a secretary for the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility in Lucasville and thoroughly enjoyed quilting.
She is survived by her son, William B. “Bill” (Kacey) Appel of Mason, Ohio; daughter, Melinda K. (Jon) O’Connor of Cincinnati and grandchildren William E. “Liam” and Katherine E. “Kate” Appel and Barbara M. O’Connor.
In addition to her parents, Winifred was preceded in death by her sisters, Charlotte Bird and Carol Loper; mother-in-law, Barbara Appel and sister-in-law, Linda Appel.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, May 6, 2017 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur. Interment will be in Elk Cemetery, McArthur. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
