Dzilis Edvin “Zeke” Voits, 84, of Logan, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at New Lexington Care & Rehab. He was born January 10, 1939, in Riga, Latvia, the son of the late “John” Janis Voits and Olga (Lusis) Voits.
Zeke was a 1958 graduate of Logan High School and attended Oneonta Latvian College in New York. Zeke was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from Logan Clay. Zeke was a founding member of the Logan Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2168. He enjoyed hanging out at Shamrock Irish Pub and Home Tavern in Logan. Zeke loved fishing, bowling, poker, and many other card games.
Zeke is survived by his son, Jon Voits of Junction City; daughters, Kelly (Sam) Hinkle of Junction City and Teresa (Rich) Blake of Logan; grandchildren, Robbie Grove, Joe Grove, Jesse Voits, Richard Blake, and Jackson Blake; sister, Dzidra (Richard) Brown of New Straitsville; nephews, Butch (Kelly) Jenks and Chad (Casey) Brown; niece, Leah Jenks; special friends, Eric and Amber Cullison; and lifelong friend, Chuck Hopkins.
In addition to his parents, Zeke was preceded in death by his wife, Saundra “Sandy” Voits and sister, Dzintra Silajs.
Family and friends may visit from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan. Cremation will follow.
