Sharon Marie Dunaway

July 9, 1955 — July 20, 2024

Sharon Marie Dunaway, 69, of Westerville, born and raised in Logan, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at her daughter’s home. Sharon was born July 9, 1955, in Logan, the daughter of the late Ralph and Carol Hinerman. She was the widow of the late, Charles “Charlie” Dunaway, who was the love of her life.

Sharon was a graduate of Starr-Washington High School and earned associate’s degrees in Hotel Restaurant Management and Accounting from Hocking Technical College. She worked at several restaurants, spending the most time with Pizza Mart. She had a gift with numbers that she used in her positions with Citizen’s Bank and eventually retiring from Chase Bank. She was a member of the St. James Episcopal Church in Columbus and the Logan Moose Lodge.

Sharon loved the arts and was a talented artist in the many things she loved to do; painting, ceramics, glass, gardening, sewing, and cooking. She was the embodiment of hospitality, creating a welcoming and loving environment wherever she was. Sharon was always serving and caring for others, especially driving a golf cart for the VA and hosting and baking for the St. James coffee hour.  She loved driving “Itty Bitty”, kayaking, and was always “one cat short of crazy”.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Laura Marie (Michael) Darling of Powell; stepdaughter, Lisa (Torry) Washington of Virginia; grandsons, Tyler Washington and Logan Darling; grand pup, Chopper; brothers, Steve Swafford, David Hinerman, Kenneth Hinerman, Tom Hinerman, and Roger Hinerman; sister, “Sissy” Myla and “Uncle” Joe Policarpo; and countless extended family members and friends that Sharon considered family.

In addition to her husband, Charlie, and her parents, Ralph (Lois) and Carol, Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents who raised her, Ruth and Ken Hinerman; uncles, Daine Hinerman and Keith Hinerman; and “Momma” Donna.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, July 26, 2024, at the Cardaras Funeral Home, 183 E. Second St., Logan, with Chaplain Christine Tenpas M.Div. officiating. Interment will be in New Fairview Memorial Gardens, Rockbridge. Family and friends may visit from 11 am to 1 pm Friday at the funeral home. Following the services, all are invited for a gathering and food at the Logan Moose Family Center 873, 701 E Front St., Logan.

A memorial service will be held at 12 pm on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at St. James Episcopal Church, 3400 Calumet St., Columbus. A coffee hour will follow the service, and all are invited.

To celebrate Sharon’s colorful and funky spirit, the family requests minimal (as possible) black clothing for the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. James Episcopal Church (Blessings Box in the memo), 3400 Calumet St., Columbus, Ohio 43214 or bring a non-perishable food item to the services on Saturday.
